Service Description

Nuchal translucency scan or First trimester screening for Down's syndrome. Done between 11-13+6 weeks of pregnancy. Done to see markers/features of mainly Down's syndrome on ultrasound and to calculate the risk or probability of having a baby with Down's syndrome. NT or the fluid behind the neck of the fetus is seen alongwith nasal bone and other markers. A blood test or an invasive test may further be advised. Advisable for all pregnant women irrespective of the history, age group and ethnicity.
